Have you ever had that special kick that comes with giving a present and being able to say ‘I made it myself!’? At the Local hosts have always been partial to the DIY spirit of craftiness and so inspired by a wish to support the unique handiwork of local artists today we explore a burgeoning Brisbane art community based on creativity, determination, and networking.
BrisStyle is a collective of emerging and established artists, crafters and designers from Queensland’s South East who sell their wares on the biggest global website for everything handmade, Etsy.com. They specialise in producing quality handmade goods including handbags, jewellery, footwear, babies and children’s wear, soft toys, graphic artworks and vintage re-creations. Olivia spoke to market coordinator Helen Berthold, and stall holders Bec from Wheresbeckybean and Hayley from REread.
At the local also spoke to Karen Croke from Knitting for Brisbane Needy.
